I studied chemistry at university and after graduating I very soon began a teaching career in maths and science. This choice soon led me to another and I returned to university to study computer science. The computer studies at Melbourne University was completed in 1976 and my position at Richmond TAFE College changed from teaching to running a computer centre and developing software to assist in the delivery of an early self-paced education model.
By this time, mid 1970’s, Felicia and I were together and we had purchased a small plot of land in Glen Forbes/Bass Coast. We had discovered Bass Coast by chance but even so long ago I fell in love with the beauty of this area and knew that Felicia and I would settle here permanently when our working careers in Melbourne were over. This happened in 2003 when Felicia and I retired from regular work.
I soon joined the Wonthaggi Woodcrafters and U3A. The Woodcrafters were, and still are an excellent men and women’s club specializing in various woodcrafts. This is where I learned woodturning of which my bowls are one of many items I produce. A few years ago I had the pleasure of contributing some of my work to the ArtSpace Gallery and I have continued to do so. (Thank you ArtSpace Gallery!)
As well as getting much pleasure from creating woodcraft I also gain such satisfaction in writing computer software and keeping abreast of scientific developments in Astronomy, space discoveries generally and developments in the physical sciences.
