I’ve been making kiln formed glass piece for over 10 years now and still love the art form. Kiln formed glass is very simply glass formed in a kiln – melted together either lightly to just stick or completely to create a smooth surface. Making kiln formed glass pieces is easy, but once I’d mastered the technicalities I needed to start to use that knowledge with an idea of design, composition and colour to make my original pieces. By the way it doesn’t always work to plan. There is always that terrifying moment when the finished pieces come out of the kiln and you hear the sharp ‘click’ that means the beautiful creation is no longer in one piece!
